JACKSON HOLE, WYOMING

Entering its 30th year of business in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, the NEW YORK CITY SUB SHOP, owned and operated by Bruce Tlougan, has consistently served delicious sandwiches since its founding in 1985. Originally located on Glenwood Street, in a small 110 square foot storefront, this sub shop could only fit three customers inside at a time. You frequently had to stand outside (even in a snowstorm!) to get your sub passed through a small pick-up window. It was strictly a take-out business. Bruce’s mission was to deliver to his customers a top quality product and quick service for an affordable price. In 2000, the sub shop moved down the road to 20 North Jackson Street, in the former Daylight Donuts building. This present location offers plenty of indoor seating and easy parking. Over the years, artist Greta Gretzinger has painted murals on every square inch of wall space, resulting in a colorful and whimsical journey of the sub shop over 30+ years. Bruce’s hard work and simple design led to a successful foundation to build upon as he expanded his horizons further west to Oregon.

HOOD RIVER, OREGON

Since opening the doors to The Gorge and Hood River in 1989, New York City Sub Shop has become the go to lunch spot for locals and visitors alike. Sandwiched between Dill Sailboards and Northwave Sails, co-owner Andrew Deenik served the growing Hood River community until 2014 when he and Bruce Tlougan sold the Hood River location to longtime manager Chris Emerson. Although many of the tenants have changed over the last 27 years, New York City Sub Shop remains the anchor of this Wasco St. location.

BEND, OREGON

In 1996, we opened the New York City Sub Shop on Wilson Ave located next to Parr Lumber with the purpose of serving the eastside community of Bend. Now located in the Midtown of Bend this shop is poised to serve a larger slice of the growing Bend community. Food Truck a.k.a. Betsy

In 2018 we built our first Food Truck. Betsy, the truck nickname, was purchased a couple years ago from a friend in Hood River. The 1980 Chevy step van was a Matco tool truck from the East Coast originally. Lew, the Jeweler wizard drove it out from Jersey and landed in Hood River. Lew used it as a “Gorge Mobile” carrying his windsurf gear to and fro around the famous windsurfing sites along the Gorge banks. then Lew used it as a Bagel delivery van for his Bagelsmith business. Eventually Betsy was sold to Bingen Bart, a famous windsurfer. We bought it shortly after his possession. With the help of Troy and his son Josh the stainless steel wizards we created a beautiful kitchen, on wheels. Our mutual friend Aussie Sam, another transplant from Hood River, did the sparky work. Bob, Keith or Kevin did all our mechanical engine work, what a mess that was for him. Ray our original plumber from 1993 did the plumbing. A big shout out to Ray for helping us at 80+ years old. Extra engine work has been done by VRGarage, where Cameron and Adam help us prevent any more tows.
